The availability of the services described in the We Connect and We Connect Plus packages may differ depending on where you live and depend on the model, model year and vehicle equipment. Basic functions

Basic functions such as the Emergency Call Service and the legally required eCall Emergency System are available to you without the conclusion of a separate We Connect contract. If you wish to transfer selected personalised functions from one vehicle to another, you need a Discover Media or Discover Pro. You also need a Volkswagen ID user account and need to log into We Connect with your username and password.

We Connect

Your gateway to Volkswagen’s digital services and the direct connection to your vehicle: with We Connect, your Volkswagen is ready for connectivity. Following one-off activation, you can use lots of helpful and innovative online services free of charge.

Usage of these free services requires you to sign up online to a separate We Connect contract with Volkswagen AG.

1) Only available with the optional ‘Discover Pro’ navigation system and in conjunction with the We Connect app. Five free mobile keys are available to start with for the Passat and the Arteon and, once the function has been purchased, five mobile keys are also available for the Golf. Mobile keys can be redeemed within the first four years of conclusion of the We Connect contract. The transfer of a mobile key requires a key sender identity check through the Volkswagen Ident procedure. Following installation on a compatible smartphone, the mobile key has a one-year validity period tied to the device.

We Connect Plus

The entire world of digital services from Volkswagen brings connectivity to a new level: With your Volkswagen ID and We Connect Plus activation, you have access to extra smart functions: from smart navigation with real-time information and media streaming and Internet radio to using your smartphone as a remote control. For even more comfort and entertainment.

Usage of these services requires you to sign up online to a separate We Connect Plus contract with Volkswagen AG. For We Connect Plus, following vehicle handover, you have 90 days in which to register the vehicle at portal.volkswagen-we.com and use the services for the full duration of the free initial period (depending on equipment: for example, one year for Discover Media and Ready 2 Discover or three years for Discover Pro).

1) The “Lock & Unlock” service is a secure service and requires that your identity be verified via the Volkswagen Ident process. Your identity will be verified by a Volkswagen dealership or via video chat.
2) Additional data is required for the use of the “Streaming & Internet” services and for the Wi-Fi hotspot. Data plans can be purchased from Cubic Telecom, our mobile communications partner, and used in the network coverage area within many European countries. You can find information on prices and supported countries at https://vw.cubictelecom.com. Alternatively, you can form your own data connection using a mobile device (smartphone tethering) with an existing or separate mobile phone contract between you and your mobile network operator and only within the coverage area of the respective mobile network. Additional fees (for example, roaming charges) may arise when receiving data from the Internet, depending on your particular mobile phone rate and especially when using the service abroad.
3) Use requires an account with a relevant streaming service.

1) Available in the In-Car Shop for vehicles with We Connect. Separate registration for We Park is required. The vehicle requires an active Internet connection to use the services. Additional costs for parking charges and transaction fees plus VAT may be incurred when using the services.
2) Amazon, Alexa and all associated logos and movement marks are protected trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its subsidiaries. The Alexa function indicated requires smart home technology. To use Alexa, you need an Amazon user account. Volkswagen AG allows customers to access Alexa in vehicles. Alexa’s cloud-based services are provided by Amazon. To use the Alexa in-car app in a Volkswagen, you also require a Volkswagen ID and a We Connect contract whose scope includes the voice control option. Data connection costs shall be borne by you. The Alexa in-car app is exclusively available/usable in vehicles with the following country-specific equipment: United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain and France. Your Volkswagen dealership can tell you whether your vehicle meets this requirement. Currently only the above countries are supported by the Alexa in-car app, as Amazon Alexa is only available for these countries.
3) For the use of these in-car apps, additional data is required. We Upgrade

We Upgrade lets you equip your Volkswagen with additional functions flexibly and at a later date. To purchase and use We Upgrade products, you need a Volkswagen ID user account, a valid We Connect contract and your primary user credentials, i.e. the link between your user account and the specific vehicle. Your vehicle also needs to have the technical functions and hardware equipment required for We Upgrade. The We Upgrade products available for the specific vehicle can be viewed by the primary user in the infotainment system In-Car Shop. For paid-for products, you need to go to the We Connect web shop https://shop.volkswagen-we.com and save a payment method. Purchased and activated We Upgrade functions remain with the vehicle and cannot be transferred to other vehicles.

1) App-Connect includes Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™ and MirrorLink® technologies. To avoid distraction, only certified apps can be started during the journey. In this context, please also be aware that some apps are not offered for all three technologies and the availability of these technologies can vary from country to country. Information on the compatibility of smartphones can be found for Apple CarPlay™ at https://www.apple.com/ios/carplay/, for Android Auto™ at https://www.android.com/intl/auto/ and for MirrorLink® at https://mirrorlink.com/. 
2) Use of expanded Online Voice Control functions requires a Volkswagen ID and active We Connect licence. Depending on the vehicle model and its equipment, you can use your voice to control lots of vehicle features and online services with ease.
3) Voice control of navigation functions with Ready 2 Discover only available once navigation is activated via We Upgrade.
